Given in the 1828 ‘Dialect of Craven‘ as; “PANDEWAFF Water and oatmeal boiled together sometimes mixed with fat and baked in a pan.”

Known from several dialect glossaries of the 19th Century (Wright 1857, Dictionary of obsolete and provincial English, etc) as particularly associated with the East Riding of Yorkshire.
