Apple Cobs

Puddings and Sweet Deserts
Shropshire

Whole apple, peeled, cored and filled with honey, butter and sweet spices. Wrapped in circle of paste crimped around the top to give a crown-like appearance. Baked. (J.Salmon etc)

Hester Hope’s 1878 novel ‘Roydenhurst‘ has; “I don’t mean to leave my cookery nor my fingers behind me, and ’tis not everybody who can make apple cobs, and such like things, to please you !”
