Potato Bake

Fruit and Vegetables

Layers of sliced potato, onion, knobs of butter and cheese, baked.


Original Receipt in the ‘Lichfield Mercury‘ – Friday 18 October 1935

CHEESE AND POTATO BAKE

Ingredients;
Few [sic] Potatoes
1/4 lb. Grated Cheese
Onions
1 oz. Butter
cupful Water
Salt and Pepper

Method:— Peel potatoes and onions and out into slices. Grease a dish. Place layer of potatoes at bottom of dish, then a layer onions, followed by layer of grated cheese, salt and pepper. Continue in layers until the dish is full, leaving potatoes on top. Add few nuts of butter and water. Place in oven and cook until potatoes on top are brown. Serve hot.
