Rumpy Bread

(Or Rumple Bread)

Fancy bread loaf style, round with a series of many shallow cross cuts on the top forming a chequerboard appearance. The origin of the name for a type of bread is unclear, but ‘rumple’ is known as a synonym for ‘creased’ or ‘crumpled’ at least since the 1600s (OED)
