Sarsaparilla

Drinks

A soft drink flavoured with Jamaica sarsaparilla (Smilax officinalis) or other herbs of similar flavour. Formerly a staple of ‘Temperance Bars’, and widely promoted as a ‘blood purifier’, one of the few remaining makers, Mawson’s of Oldham, also include ginger and liquorice in their cordial.
