 (or ‘Tandra’ or ‘Tandrew’ Cakes or Whiggs or Whigs) Tandry is a familiar version of ‘Saint Andrew’, sometimes considerd the patron of lacemakers, in whose honour a type of whigg was made, most notably at Pavenham in Bedfordshire. This tradition is well-attested from dialect glossaries and reports from the 18th to early 20th Century, but the receipt appears to be lost. See: Kattern Cakes  |
