 Very large sour green apple, the most popular for cooking. The first 'Bramley's Seedling' grew from pips planted by the young Mary Ann Brailsford in her garden in Southwell, Nottinghamshire around1809. The cottage and garden were purchased by a butcher, Matthew Bramley in 1846, who later supplied cutting to Henry Merryweather, a nurseryman.  |
