Gammon

Meat and Meat Dishes

Gammon is a general term for pig muscle meat.

The word "gammon" has been noted since at least 1604, and famously by Charles Dickens as an isult to describe a certain type of plump, red-faced, self-satisfied, middle aged man who professes an extreme patriotism in large part to disguise his essential selfishness and corruption.
