The receipt given by Mrs.B for 'Fanchonettes' is very similar. ![]() Manchester tarts at Manchester United Football Club Slight variations occur, including the addition of a layer of thinly sliced banana above the jam and of lemon flavouring in the custard. Known by this name at least since an article on London in 'The Cork Examiner' - Monday 23 April 1923 (p4) and in The Social Service Review (v20, p210) of 1946.
