 Coconut-flavoured custard in a thin pastry. Known since Rundell 1807.  Original Receipt in 'A New System Of Domestic Cookery' by 'A Lady' (Mrs. Maria Eliza Ketelby Rundell) (Rundell 1807); COCOA-NUT PUDDING - E. R. Grate a cocoa-nut with a bread-grater, and stir it into a good custard of eggs, a little spice, a bit of fresh butter, and a glass of brandy. Line shallow dishes with puff-paste, and bake of a delicate brown. See also; Impossible Pie.  |
